Physician and Freelance Writer
A freelance writer, Dr. Jason Campbell writes on topics such as current events, mental health, and racial inequality for his blog. His work has also been published in The Orlando Sentinel, Seattle Times, and Chicago Tribune, among other news outlets. Select editorials include "Why I Choose to Spend Christmas in a Children's Hospital" (2019) and "Growing Up a Black Man in America: Why Our Souls Are On Fire" (2020). Dr. Jason Campbell has also been invited to speak about the aforementioned topics at conferences and was the keynote speaker for Howard University College of Medicine's Student National Medical Association Region VI Conference, where he delivered a speech entitled, "Overcoming Adversity on Your Route to Success."
Dr. Campbell previously completed an internship at Oregon Health and Science University. He received his M.D. at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 2018. Here, Dr. Campbell was a member of the Gold Humanism Honor Society and Landacre Research Honor Society. He also received multiple scholarships and awards, including The Spirit of Ohio State Award for Excellence in Mentorship.
Prior to enrolling in medical school, Dr. Jason L. Campbell earned a master of science in physiology from Georgetown University and a bachelor of science in anthropology and human biology from Emory University. Dr. Campbell was communications chair for the Georgetown Day School Alumni Board and president of the Pi Delta Delta chapter of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity at Emory.
Complementing his medical education, Dr. Campbell has published research and other articles in peer-reviewed journals such as The Journal of Pediatrics and EClinicalMedicine. He has also presented at conferences hosted by the Midwest Society for Pediatric Research. A former Division III student-athlete and All-American, his hobbies and interests include fitness, sports, and nature.
